Networking

Routers

A router is a device that connects two or more packet-switched networks or subnetworks. It serves two primary functions: managing traffic between these networks by forwarding data packets to their intended IP addresses, and allowing multiple devices to use the same Internet connection.

Access Points

An access point acts as a standalone root unit. It is not attached to a wired LAN. Instead, the access point functions as a hub that links all stations together. It serves as the focal point for communications, increasing the communication range of wireless users.

Beaming

Beam-forming networks combine signals from small antennae into a pattern that is more directional than each antenna by itself because of array factor.

Mesh Systems

A mesh network system is a type of network that uses multiple access points, or nodes, to transmit data throughout a home. In a mesh network, each node can relay data to other nodes until it reaches its destination. This is different from traditional wireless networks, where each device connects to a single router.
